The cover for the novel Trolls and Other Trouble. The background of the cover image is that of narrow pathway winding through the rocky cliffs of a mountain with misty gray-white skies coming down from the top right to the lower left. The rough rocks are a reddish purple and those on the right have some green vegetation. Peeking up to almost halfway up the cover is a dreaded goblin scout in his sun blanket made up of heavy mottled green camouflage. Two angry eyes peer out, and one can make out the lower quarter of the green and purple face, with its boar-like tusks, its long, pointed nose and the tiny, sharp teeth that poke out of a thick lower purple red lip. The text on the book reads – Ruferto Basaretti No. 1, Trolls and Other Trouble, and David S. Grunwell. The word Trolls is shiny like gold, but it has been marred, beaten, and cut. Trouble is gold but with no bruising. Most of the other type is white with a strong black outline.

What people are saying

"I love that there is no swear words or sexual situations that is so common in fantasy novels today! There is war, but it does not glorify the gore. It still is great fun!"

"Best series ever! It's my guilty pleasure when I'm supposed to be doing something else. Like sleeping. 🤣"

“I find myself laughing out loud and then it's followed by some thoughtful moments about life.”

“This series just keeps getting better and more exciting! I keep sneaking off to read more!”

“This unique and fun series has the potential to be as popular as Harry Potter.”

“I love Bert and Ruferto! I want to hang out with them and Narda!”

"An undiscovered gem of a series!"

"Just get these books, you will thank me later!"

I read this book as a way to de-stress and ended up not wanting it to end. It was a fun, delightful and entertaining read.... I read with a chuckle or grin in many places. The adventures of Ruferto and things that happened to him surprised me in ways I never would have thought of (sometimes edge of your seat and sometimes intriguing), but I always felt like I was there with him and anxious to see what happened next. It was my perfect happy place during the stressful pandemic. I can't wait to read the next in the series!

About the Author

I love to write. There are always dialogues and adventures going through my mind, asking to be told.

In my process, I tend to create mayhem and then try to figure out some plausible, fun, and unique way for the characters to escape. Readers are smart, so I avoid lengthy descriptions that slow the story.

I seek to make stories and characters that you like and think about months later. Good books end with you saying goodbye to friends.

Photo of David Grunwell on a blue background and wearing a suit with no tie. He is clean shaven with a broad chin, sharp nose, and thin lips. Dashing, witty, and daring, with twinkling blue . . . never mind, he wrote this. He is an older guy who writes. Not as old as Bert.
